Bernardo Silva has expressed his intention to persuade fellow Portugal teammate Joao Neves to choose Manchester City over Manchester United.
In recent speculation, the £105 million-rated Benfica midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, although Benfica is reluctant to part ways with their talented player in the upcoming transfer window.
Neves, with a release clause of €120 million (£105 million/$131 million) reportedly active, has attracted attention.
Having emerged from the Eagles’ youth academy, Neves made his senior debut for Benfica in 2022 and has featured in 18 matches this season, contributing with one goal and one assist.
He earned his first national team call-up in October, making his international debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Erik ten Hag is actively seeking a quality midfield addition, especially with key United players like Casemiro sidelined due to injuries.
Bernardo Silva shared his thoughts, stating, “If I can, I’ll make a move for Joao Neves to go to Man City instead of Man United, of course.”
As of now, Joao Neves remains committed to Benfica, set to feature in their Liga Portugal clash against Famalicao.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is gearing up for a Premier League encounter with Everton.
