According to Goal Brasil, Manchester United is actively pursuing a deal to acquire Atalanta midfielder Ederson at the conclusion of the current season.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a pivotal figure in Atalanta’s midfield this season, showcasing both defensive solidity and attacking flair.

United’s interest in the Brazilian star has been ongoing, with reports indicating that inquiries have already been made regarding his availability.

While United prepares a proposal for Ederson, Atalanta has made it clear that any potential transfer will not occur until the summer transfer window.

Ederson, meanwhile, is open to considering offers but acknowledges the likelihood of having to wait until July, especially with Atalanta vying for a top-four finish in Serie A.

Renowned for his versatility, Ederson is capable of operating in both defensive and central midfield roles, a quality that has been evident in his performances this season.

With six goals and one assist to his name, Ederson’s offensive contributions have been noteworthy, complementing his defensive prowess with 2.6 tackles and 5.4 duels won per game.

Furthermore, he boasts an impressive record of 5.7 ball recoveries per outing and a success rate of over 67% in take-ons, all while receiving just four bookings in Serie A.

While United scouts have undoubtedly been impressed by Ederson’s all-around skill set, the final decision on pursuing the transfer rests with manager Erik ten Hag.

Atalanta, having secured Ederson for approximately €15m, will likely demand a substantial fee to part ways with the midfielder this summer, with figures in the range of €40-50m anticipated.

Despite the potential financial hurdle, United’s prior successful dealings with Atalanta, including the signings of Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund, could facilitate negotiations.

However, United should not expect any discounts on the transfer fee, given the significant investment required to secure Ederson’s services.
