In an exclusive update, Fabrizio Romano has dismissed recent speculations linking Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United, asserting the player’s contentment at Atletico Madrid and expressing regret over his previous move to Barcelona.
Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, revealed that Griezmann is currently happy with life at Atletico Madrid and has no intentions of seeking a move away.
The French international reportedly regrets leaving Atletico for Barcelona a few years ago and declined negotiations with Saudi Pro League clubs during the summer, despite lucrative offers.
Romano emphasized that the likelihood of Griezmann joining Manchester United is extremely low, given the player’s strong desire to remain with his current club.
While the Red Devils could benefit from the addition of an experienced forward like Griezmann, Romano suggests that the player’s commitment to Atletico Madrid makes such a transfer unrealistic.
“There have been some surprising stories about Antoine Griezmann being a target for Manchester United, but I think it’s impossible, honestly.
I’m not aware of any contacts, but it’s also not just about that, it’s about the player’s desire to stay at Atletico Madrid,” said Romano.
He further disclosed that during the summer, Griezmann received a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia, making him one of the highest-paid players, but the Frenchman declined negotiations.
Griezmann’s attachment to Atletico Madrid has strengthened, especially after returning to the club, and he reportedly feels a deep connection with the fans, the city, his teammates, and the manager.
