During a budget debate, MP Isaac Adongo drew an unexpected analogy, comparing Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia’s economic management to the performances of Harry Maguire at Manchester United.
In an incident from a year ago, Adongo had publicly criticized Maguire, likening him to the “biggest threat at the centre of the Manchester United defence” while commenting on Bawumia’s economic approach.
Recently, Adongo extended a public apology to Maguire, acknowledging the footballer’s transformative journey after a challenging season. Despite the apology, Adongo couldn’t resist taking a swipe at the Vice-President, stating, “As for our Maguire, he is now at the IMF (International Monetary Fund) with a cup in hand.”
As Ghana grapples with a significant economic crisis, Maguire’s acceptance of the apology took an unexpected turn. The United defender not only acknowledged Adongo’s apology but also invited him to visit Old Trafford in the future.
In response to a video of the apology, Maguire’s social media message read, “MP Isaac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon,” accompanied by handshake and smiley face emojis.
