**Gary Neville Applauds Kobbie Mainoo’s Outstanding Premier League Debut**
Gary Neville showered praise on Kobbie Mainoo for his stellar performance in his first league start for Manchester United during their Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.
Despite being only 18 years old, Mainoo, who made his competitive debut for the club in January, showcased remarkable composure on the field.
Having faced a setback due to a pre-season injury, the England Under-19s player earned the trust of manager Erik ten Hag, who included him in the starting lineup.
Neville expressed his admiration, stating, ‘There’s an 18-year-old out there who looks more composed than anyone.’
Later in the commentary, he went on to declare Mainoo as Manchester United’s standout player, describing his Premier League debut as wonderful.
Despite Mainoo’s impressive display, the man of the match award went to Alejandro Garnacho for his stunning goal.
Mainoo led United in successful dribbles and made six entries into the final third, showcasing his impact on the game.
The 18-year-old played a crucial role for 72 minutes at Goodison Park before being substituted for Sofyan Amrabat, contributing to United’s 2-0 lead at that point.
Mainoo had faced an ankle injury in July during a friendly against Real Madrid, but his dedication to recovery and intense training convinced ten Hag that he was ready for a starting role at Goodison Park.
Before the game, ten Hag highlighted Mainoo’s progress, saying, ‘I think we’ve seen in pre-season, but then he dropped out with injury and he worked hard to get back.
Now he’s back, he’s match fit, playing games the last weeks, so he’s fit and he’s ready.’
It’s worth noting that Mainoo made his first senior club start last season in the League Cup against Charlton Athletic in January and later made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Leicester City.
His exceptional contributions earned him the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award at Manchester United.
